Components of IP PBXServer. A PC with Asterisk. For downloading and install instructions please visit: http://www.asterisk.org/downloads
I would recommend all in one istallation AsteriskNOW. Dedicate a PC with specifications recommended by asterisk. For small to medium scale office (50-70 users), P IV 2GHz and 1GB RAM is good enough. Installation process is simple, just burn the image downloaded from the site, boot from CD/DVD, follow the instructions. The only setting relevant at this stage is IP address and DHCP scheme. In typical case where PBX is not connected with any other IP PBX or internet gateways, relevant settings would be:
The integrated installation installs Asterisk on CenOS with freePBX GUI and 'Operator Panel' You may not need any screen or IO device for this server, hereon. You'll need an other PC for PBX administration and Operator Panel viewing. FXO for PSTN ConnectivityI am using DLink DVG 6004s, which is simple but feature rich device. In simplest configuration, you will be able to provide PSTN connectivity (4 analog lines) to IP PBX.
FXS for Analog telephone ConnectivityAny ATA device may functions here. In the example I am using LinkSys PAP2T that provide 2 FXS ports to connect two POTS.
A LAN switch to connect all, an IP phone as operator console (analog phone through ATA would also be good) |
